There has been a change in immigration procedures where green card
applicants who have filed an I-131 application for advance parole (travel
document) must stay in the U.S. until that application is approved. If you
leave the country prior to approval, your I-131 application will be
considered abandoned and it will be denied. Currently it is taking
approximately 4-5 months for I-131s to be approved
