Leaving the country while I-485 is in process is the same as abandoning the
application, unless you file for AP and us the AP to exit/reenter the US.
The only exception would be for:
H1/H4, L1/L2, K3/K4, V2/V3 visa holders. They can exit and reenter the US
using the nonimmigrant visa listed above, as long as their visa didn't
expire.
