If you don't feel comfortable with this letter, don't use it. The letter
from your boss, even when very strong, is not very useful.

have to think that way.
Objectively, this can happen, though.
Somebody has used letters like your boss' letter, and they are fine, but
some people get RFE due to this comparison with the references.
If you can talk openly with your boss, perhaps you can ask him to remove
some record of his.
As to the last paragraph to state his support of your green card application
, that's no big deal at all. What he says explicitly about you and your work

permanent residency in the U.S." at the end of the letter to make the format
right.
2) Use "many" or "numerous" instead of the number about his publications etc
in the letter.
Again, the letter from your boss is not very useful, so there is no need to
spend lots of time on it to make it right.

独立推荐人是不是在信上都要标明是作为独立推荐人的.手头有一封业内大牛的信,他和
现老板有合作,但跟我没关系,也不认识.可是在他的信里没有特别提出是独立推荐人.我
能作为独立推荐信用吗?
IO是如何分辨独立和非独立的? 是按材料里自己表明的吗? | e********t

几乎我的每个美国推荐人都把自己吹得天花乱坠，我觉得他们写惯了，我的观点是推荐
人越牛越好，这样才证明他们有资格来评价你的工作，IO不至于吃饱了撑的拿你跟那些

--能作为独立推荐信. Some people will write "never met Dr. XXX" and "never
worked together with Dr. XX" in the letter. If your recommender did not
write that, that is OK too.
--You can indicate them in the exhibition. Or let the IO to judge if the
recommender has written in the letter that s/he has never worked with you.
In your case, maybe it is better to indicate yourself since it is not clear
in the letter.

支不支持你申绿卡有个毛关系，每次我看到很多推荐信摸版的第一段说I am writing
to support dr xx green card application 就想笑，这些废话估计IO都看得吐了

See how to write a recommendation letter for the format:
