bother you by asking for the possibility for you to kindly write a reference
letter for me.
I am now preparing for application for permanent residency (green card)) of
the US, under the category of outstanding researcher or national interest
waiver.
The application needs several reference letters to comment my work, to
convince the immigration officers that I am an outstanding researcher and my
work is useful to the US. Some of references are the petitioner's
collaborators, and the rest of references are required to be independent in
order to offer objective comments. Those reference letters (typically 1-2
pages each) will be put (not sealed in an envelop) in the application
documents.
I wonder whether you would like to write a reference letter for my green
card application. Many foreign postdoctoral fellows, research associates,
scientists and assistant professors at our institute or other institutes,
have gone through the same process of the green card application. They told
me normally the applicant would give a draft of the reference letter to the
reference, because there are some guidelines and formats for these kinds of
specific reference letters.
Here I attach two word files: one is the draft of the reference letter where
some guidelines are specified. The second is a demonstration of my
contributions and my CV.
(BTW, I know some references are very busy and would like the referral to
provide a more detailed draft reference letter so that they can take less
time and effort by finishing their own reference letters based on the draft.
If you like me to provide a more detailed draft reference letter, please
let me know.)
However, I know you are exceedingly busy, which is why I hate to trouble you
with this request, and will completely understand if you decline.
