Thank you very much for your interest in our journal, which is greatly
appreciated.
We usually do not have difficulties in finding reviewers at an ad hoc basis
but
receive virtually each week offerings from foreign postdoctoral workers
based in the USA,
presumably in many cases linked to intended green card applications etc.
It is our journal's policy not to make formal arrangements with reviewers,
but
to inquire about the availability of the most suitable international experts
when a work is submitted.
If you wish to contribute to our journal at this point, please consider
submitting a high quality original paper, review, method report or another
form of manuscript on your
very interesting area(s) of expertise.
At the next round of updating our editorial board we will select board
members
based on their track record, area of expertise, contribution of high quality
articles to the journal etc. and will review all contributors at that stage.

Give you a suggestion for asking manuscript for reviewing, go to ask those
professors you know, some of them are the editors for some journals, let
them send some manuscripts to you, much easier and sooner.
The editors should be thankful since we are free labor and devote our own
time and efforts for their job. Good luck!

after I read your response.
It is totally all right that you cannot accommodate my request, but I felt
very discriminated when I saw you particularly point out "Chinese scientists

发帖数: 119 | 24 It's just my opinioin that it is fairly unprofessional to send an email like
that, especially the wording. Say "thank you for your consideration" and
move on. "You must apologize otherwise ..." -- that's a threat, and quite
honestly, you don't really have much (assuming you're a recent grad) to
threat any editors.
In the end, you're posting this in this particular forum and your intend is
to qualitfy for applying for green card, isn't it? The editor is actually
right about your original intent so can you blame him? While it does sound a
bit uncomfortable that he used the wording "Chinese scientists" but there
is always a reason behind stereotype, isn't there? Maybe he has received so
many emails requesting for reviews and he's a bit tired of it. It does not
make him/her right to assume you have such an intent, but it also does not
justify a threating reply.
Here are a few tips to get reviews.
1. Via your advisor. He/she may have friends who are editors for various
journals. When your advisor passes a paper for you to review, politely ask
whether it's possible to get the invite directly from the editor.
2. Continue emailing editors. Persistence will pay off. Also, contact
journals in which you have previously published. Starting off the email with
"I have previously published (ref) in your journals and I am familiar with
the style and accepting standard ... "
3. When you do get a review invite, take it seriously. Provide a good,
indepth review in a timely fashion --> that's how you will continue to get
reviews from the same editor. Ask your colleagues / advisors for 2nd
opinions if you weren't sure of anything in the manuscript. And please don't
treat it just like "kk accept my job is done." Someone probably has done it
like that before and that's why you (as well as the rest of us) are getting
email replies like the one you just did. |
