Title: The anti-cancer effects of arsenic sulfide (As4S4) nanosuspensions on
H460 cell line
ABSTRACT:
Arsenic sulfide compounds (As4S4) - commercial arsenic(II) sulfide and
minerals realgar and pararealgar - were prepared as nanosuspensions by
circulation mill. The average particle size parameter for the individual
samples ranged from 137 to 153 nm. The as-prepared nanosuspensions were
stable up to six weeks; their anti-cancer effects were tested on H460 cell
line. Induction of DNA damage and increase of apoptotic cells in human lung
cancer cell line was observed. Effect of milling is shown to be associated
with formation of arsenic sulfide crystalline nanoparticles and
fragmentation of corresponding free-volume entities. Structural changes were
studied by the Raman spectroscopy; morphology of the prepared nanoparticles
was determined by scanning and transmission electron microscopy.
Interaction between nitrogen from polyvinylpyrrolidone and the assembled
samples resulted in dislocation of aliphatic chain from its origin position
was observed by FTIR spectroscopy. Arsenic dissolution from As4S4
nanoparticles prepared by milling extended 12-13.5%.
