背景
中部二流大学化学博士，29 publications （一作只有5篇），300出头 citation （
independent不过一半），24 review。现在的position是学校里管仪器的staff。NSC辖
区。

过程
学校答应给办1B，不过学校没有请律师，就是由ISSO自己的人攒的package。没有PP，
八个月后拿了个RFE。IO是个杀手。除了说citation没过1000这么一个虽然clear但却让
你没法反驳的原因以外，根本也不说哪不行。学校说放弃重来。我是在这个时候找的郭
律师（Daniel Guo Law）。他的分析是这个的确翻身的机会不大，不过还是先用RFE的
时间去重新整理package，寄出去，之后就算deny了，也可以马上重新file。
Daniel Guo看了我第一次的package之后，点出了里面不够好的地方。Package里装了几
封以前雇主出具的letter用来verify我的‘research experience’，这个letter似乎
让IO以为成是推荐信了。还有PL也没有突出我的contribution，没把该强调的地方点出
来。其余的材料没有详细的归类以及highlight重点，这样相当于让让人家IO自己去挖
掘我的contribution。DG重新帮我整理了package，而且加了两封推荐信。在RFE
deadline之前寄出去了。没出意外的是只过了一两天就deny了。也同样是没有什么
concrete的理由。
根据和DG的合同，他免费帮我第二次file。这次DG帮我重写了PL。由于大块的工作都在
回复RFE的时候做好了，所以第二次file只用了很少的时间。没要求PP，不过只不到四
个月时间就过了 (approval notice listed on Daniel Guo Law website)。
心得
这里不做主观的对DG的评价，只列几个侧面以帮助别的同学参考
1 DG的PL很精简，里面没加在我个人看来看不懂又啰嗦的legal language。PL更偏重申
请人以往的research。对这个方面重点剖析，分步骤有层次的阐述申请人的
contribution。
2 DG回邮件很快。回答问题最迟当天结束之前。
3 DG的合同好像都是签是交一半的费用，过了之后再交下一半。这对像我这样手头紧的
人很有帮助。 |
