70年代末80年代初， 美国控制通货膨胀的手段是提高利率到21%。 那个时候没什么问
题，
因为美国是债权国。
可是现在美国是债务国，
考虑到美国借了那么多外债， 如果提高利率的话， 美国将要支付大量的利息，
这肯定是美国不乐意做的。 但是既然印刷了那么多钞票， 通货膨胀是肯定的，
即使工资不增长，那也可以滞胀。
另外，高利率也会打击刚刚开始恢复的房地产市场， 打击了房地产就是打击了金融业。
美国政府印那么多钱拯救金融， 是不原意让它再一次掉入深渊的。
所以对美国最有利的做法是： 既通货膨胀，又保持低利率。 |

他的洞察力真强。 他那时候就说recesison for years,
说problem is not only sub-prime, it's the entire mortgage system...
不过gs内部清楚问题的人不比peter弱，只是他们故意利用大众的无知来吹大泡泡，
然后自己去short financials, short mortgage, short toxic assets.

holdings IMMEDIATELY. No one can force them to buy. then nobody will finance
US government deficit. Don't tell me Fed will print unlimited money, do you
think they would rather destroy US dollar than seeing a great depression?
and even if they prefer, they are able to achieve it?
China's US debt holding is very tiny compared to all that held by
US domestic investors (retirees, etc.)

inflation can't/won't be allowed to blow out of control, o.w. all fixed
income securities would go to hell, including all corporate bonds and
government debts. Corporates needs to pay a lot higher interest rates to
finance their economic activities, and US will get into much bigger trouble
than today.
