Do you need to use it after 2 years? If you don't need to use
it (or can postpone using it) then the time horizon is not 2
years. By common definition 闲钱 means "will not use it forever
and can afford to lose it all".

better to buy 5 year CD and breaks out the contract (and pay few months
interest rate penalty) if you know that you will have at least 2 years not
needing the money.
Simple math. Just try it.

可以换成人民币存国内两年定期，利息稍高些，还有人民币升值期望。土共这个政府应
该没胆让人民币贬值。
不过风险也有，汇兑损失加外汇管制风险。

I am not familar with WMT to say if we should be concerned about the long te
rm competition pressure from online shopping for grocery.
As for BOND, it really depends on what kind of BOND you are going to buy ; a
t this time it's very easy to be "trapped" in bonds if you are not careful e
nough.

all in bond is not sound.
all in stock is not sound.
all in cash is not sound in the long run. for 2 years, all cash equivalent
(short term bonds, CD) is probably OK.

remember that investment is only part of your life. if you can not sleep
well when taking high risk investment, it is not worth it.
for bond, tips might be the only one I would touch. but that's just me
