I am wondering the details on that part. I should develop more time to
look at their references.. BTW, When I googled the term bitcoin, I saw no
one seriously discussing their algorithm. All discussions are on

not a viable currency. People investing a great deal of money in it makes
it work. I don't really care about the technical side, but I did have my
online buddy from MIT take a look and he assured me it's reasonably secure (
Top 500 super computers in the world combined can not hack the system, the
only way to hack the system is having more combined computing power than the
current bitcoin mining network.)

ts actually a little similar to gold. fixed amount (fixed increase per unit
time), takes resource to mine it. hard to destroy, can be used as currency (
trading across the country border), no much commercial usage themselves.
The problem is they are not backed up by a political power, so they can not
grow for a long time otherwise its going to be banned.

worth some discussion.
I don't think it will eventually prevail as a currency since:
1) Security is always an issue. Even though the algorithm and transaction
sequence are kept in every node and cross-checked at any moment, as long as
they can be updated, it's certainly possible and eventually inevitable that
a malicious version will take over the entire network.
2) I don't see the proof that this "bitcoin" system is unique. I know I may
not be able to create an authentic bitcoin within this system, but what if I
build a new and similar "witcoin" system? If similar networks can be
created by anybody, holding a bitcoin today certainly makes no investment
sense.
With these said, because this is such an evolutionary idea at probably still
an early stage, a huge bubble may be coming.

We are talking about a currency that is expected to mimic gold. Gold is a
store of value because it's not reproducible. Not only can't you produce
gold out of air, the number of similar alternatives are also limited (silver
, platinum, etc...), and they settle at a relatively stable exchange rate
with gold.
When (if) the bitcoin economy grows and its value appreciates, you will find
the early users commands an amount of bitcoin currency vastly
disproportionate to their real wealth (assets in dollar, commodities,
productivity...). Actually 1/4 of the designed total amount of bitcoin is
already generated and held in the hands of the current users. This is not a
sustainable senario because the real rich will not adopt the system and give
up their wealth to the early users. Instead they will start other e-
currency systems.

The success of bitcoin depends on the community around it. If you could

I have anything to gain by discussing it here? I see this as a great
investment opportunity, and I invested in it to test the waters 5 days ago,
and sharing the results here. I didn't ask anyone to invest in it with me,
did I? It did turn out to be a great investment, I have almost doubled my
money in 5 days.
I have also just figured out profitability of mining for bitcoins. I just ordered $2000 worth of parts to build a mining computer to test the waters for mining (using part of my profits from trading the coins). From my calculation I can profit $800 per month from the machine. If all goes well, I will run 10+ mining PCs by end of the year using just the profits from selling the coins I mined. Even if the bitcoin market crash to 0, I can still sell the hardware. Now PLEASE do not follow me, I don't want competitors :)

handles 90%+ of btc trade volume, could not accept USD deposits for the past
5 days, because their main payment processor (Dwolla) changed the API and
broke something. (this is the announcement link: http://www.dwolla.org/blog/grid-is-here-cash-just-got-more-secure-than-plastic/)
As a result, almost no one was able to deposit USD into their mtgox account.
So essentially no one had USD to buy btc with. Therefore the price went
down for the past 4 days, coincidence? No one could deposit USD into mtgox
until next Monday, which we will probably see extreme buying volume and
price will be back to $30 probably.

reached $30. It stayed above $30 for another 2 days, reaching $31.90
at the peak. But on June 8th I already posted that I used my profits
to buy mining machines (post 29), I can't use my profits unless I sold.
Believe it or not, up to you.
I am still firmly invested in bitcoin, with 4 machines mining (cost $5k).
It's just that I got lucky with the first trade, and it's running on
profits now, and it's impossible for me to lose any money at this point.

is that money must be able to store value. Paper currency is

not a viable currency. People investing a great deal of money in it makes
it work. I don't really care about the technical side, but I did have my
online buddy from MIT take a look and he assured me it's reasonably secure (
Top 500 super computers in the world combined can not hack the system, the
only way to hack the system is having more combined computing power than the
current bitcoin mining network.)

ts actually a little similar to gold. fixed amount (fixed increase per unit
time), takes resource to mine it. hard to destroy, can be used as currency (
trading across the country border), no much commercial usage themselves.
The problem is they are not backed up by a political power, so they can not
grow for a long time otherwise its going to be banned.

I don't think it will eventually prevail as a currency since:
1) Security is always an issue. Even though the algorithm and transaction
sequence are kept in every node and cross-checked at any moment, as long as
they can be updated, it's certainly possible and eventually inevitable that
a malicious version will take over the entire network.
2) I don't see the proof that this "bitcoin" system is unique. I know I may
not be able to create an authentic bitcoin within this system, but what if I
build a new and similar "witcoin" system? If similar networks can be
created by anybody, holding a bitcoin today certainly makes no investment
sense.
With these said, because this is such an evolutionary idea at probably still
an early stage, a huge bubble may be coming.

We are talking about a currency that is expected to mimic gold. Gold is a
store of value because it's not reproducible. Not only can't you produce
gold out of air, the number of similar alternatives are also limited (silver
, platinum, etc...), and they settle at a relatively stable exchange rate
with gold.
When (if) the bitcoin economy grows and its value appreciates, you will find
the early users commands an amount of bitcoin currency vastly
disproportionate to their real wealth (assets in dollar, commodities,
productivity...). Actually 1/4 of the designed total amount of bitcoin is
already generated and held in the hands of the current users. This is not a
sustainable senario because the real rich will not adopt the system and give
up their wealth to the early users. Instead they will start other e-
currency systems.

investment opportunity, and I invested in it to test the waters 5 days ago,

money in 5 days.
I have also just figured out profitability of mining for bitcoins. I just ordered $2000 worth of parts to build a mining computer to test the waters for mining (using part of my profits from trading the coins). From my calculation I can profit $800 per month from the machine. If all goes well, I will run 10+ mining PCs by end of the year using just the profits from selling the coins I mined. Even if the bitcoin market crash to 0, I can still sell the hardware. Now PLEASE do not follow me, I don't want competitors :)

5 days, because their main payment processor (Dwolla) changed the API and

As a result, almost no one was able to deposit USD into their mtgox account.
So essentially no one had USD to buy btc with. Therefore the price went

price will be back to $30 probably.

reached $30. It stayed above $30 for another 2 days, reaching $31.90
at the peak. But on June 8th I already posted that I used my profits
to buy mining machines (post 29), I can't use my profits unless I sold.
Believe it or not, up to you.
I am still firmly invested in bitcoin, with 4 machines mining (cost $5k).
It's just that I got lucky with the first trade, and it's running on
profits now, and it's impossible for me to lose any money at this point.

这个游戏最终的结果只能是lose everything。就算有人暴富，
