1) the breakdown of the risk control. Dimon was pretty much kept in the dark
until recently, and we are talking about one of the best-run banks and one
of the best banker.
2) Regulatory risk, which is even bigger. The loss play right into the hand
of the Volker rule supporters, and many people would like to see the
commercial banks to be like regulated financial utilities. If that view
prevails, JPM and other mega banks would lose significant earning power
permanently. It may not be a bad thing IMHO to the society as a whole, but
certainly a disaster to their current investors.
Besides, Greece could exit EMU very soon, the likelihood grow everyday. Financial institute will be hit hard in such event.
