| t******r 发帖数: 826 | 5 The simple case
gifts of up to the annual exclusion ($13,000 per recipient in 2009-2012)
incur no tax or filing requirement.
You still have time for 2012. Write a check $13,000 to your father, another
$13,000 check to your mother now. For safety, your parents cash them this
year, then it does not use next year's quota.
Next year, on 01/01/2013, do the same thing to your parents.
If you are married, your wife can do the same thing to your parents this
year and next year. You can also do the same thing to your wife's parents
this year and next year.
You can give more to one person and still not need to pay tax, but you need
to file it in your tax return. It is better not go to that complicated case
unless you have to.
Still have extra $? Mail me a check under $13,000. Otherwise, baozi please,
not gift tax involved. | b*h 发帖数: 28 | 6 This only applies to US citizens, not to resident aliens or GC holders,
right? | l******l 发帖数: 59 | 7 Mark! A lot people asking for baozi, but how do I know how many baozi I have
right now? | t******r 发帖数: 826 | 8 I could be wrong. My understanding it does not matter who receives the gift.
If the giver has green card, the rule should apply. |
