明年打算换房,打算先买了搬家以后再卖现住房。现住房还差几万就还清贷款了,到时
候是否应该从rothIRA里面拿钱把贷款付清,然后贷HELOC做downpayment呢?还是就直
接贷HELOC(应该也够)?还是无所谓?谢谢指教!

This is actually a good question.
Many families treat Roth IRA as an emergency fund, unfortunately there are
too many rules to it and you can easily make a mistake.
In this case, I wouldn't recommend you taking money out of Roth IRA to pay
off the current property then open an HELOC for downpayment, the reason
being, in most cases, you cannot repay 100% of your borrowing from Roth IRA,
which will be a big loss for your retirement fund's growth because lost
base for future growth.
The only exception is you take $5500 (2013 contribution) for temporary use
then repay it back before Apr 15, 2014. But I guess your loan amount is
more than $5500, which means your max repayment back to Roth IRA is only $
5500, the other borrowed amount wouldn't be allowed to pay yourself back,
which leads to lost future Roth IRA growth opportunity.
Consult your CPA before you take any action.

Thank you so much for the reply.
I realize doing this will permanently reduce the base for future growth of
our rothIRA. The only reason for me to do this, is we don't need to carry
two mortgages while selling the old property. We need to weigh the options.

金额不大的话不要跟IRA捣乱,万一被IRS查太牵扯时间精力。不值得
