its search is bad. Google with keyword + wikipedia usually yields
good results on wikipedia.

In general, both are really applications in the broad sense, but, a web serv
ice is such that other applications (not necessarily web, I suppose) can ask
it for the info it provides.

See that's why it's a misnomer. 8-)
While SOAP over HTTP is the most widely used Web service binding, there are
binding support for SOAP over SMTP, direct EJB, etc.
