After reading the Java vs C++ in a news group(attached
behind), I have a similar question in my mind.
I worked with J2EE, weblogic for 7 months in a B2B startup
after I
graduated. At that time, I thought I was lucky to get to do
the
coolest programming right after I graduated. J2EE was really
THE ONE
in my mind. I thought that was the ultimate technical
direction to go
after in the next 5 years.
7 months later, I got laid off. Then I joined a customer
service

The true potential of Java is in INFORMATION ELECTRIC
DEVICE. Because Java's OS independant and networking
advantage, the future network based electric device must use
Java as it's programming language and standard runtime
environment. The network is not only the connected PCs, but
also the connected devices like TV, Air-condition, car, ...
If you keep an eye on recent IT news, you will find many
famous electric device manufacturer has announced that the

processors are getting faster and faster. Eventually, Java
will run fast enough not only for server side applications
but also for client side applications. That day shouldn't
be too far in the future. In fact, I feel quite comfortable
running Java applications on my 1G T-bird.
Think about development effort and deployment cost. It would
be much more efficient using Java for any company that
has cross platform deployment in mind.
