想找以前读书的老板挂钩做个volunteer researcher的job
有几个问题：
1）以前的老板需要出示什么样的信件？需要学校或系里同意吗？
2）在这个job title下面能申请绿卡？想走EB1a

A letter is needed only if USCIS ever wants to verify authenticity of the
employment; you might need approval from the department.
Theoretically you can, but I don't think a title like "volunteer researcher"
looks good on an EB1a petition.
