add keyword in skills
join professional groups related to your major
update profile often
use more specific word, e g: "server side software engineer- J2EE" instead
of "software engineer" as job title

you get any phone calls or interviews from LinkedIn?
How about paying to become a premium membership at LinkedIn? Is that helpful?
I used monster and careerbuilder, and now are trying to use LinkedIn.

I am not even actively seeking for a job. I just updated my linkedin profile
the other day to keep it up-to-date during a weekend. I was contacted by two
recruiters the next Monday.
I used monster before when I was looking for a job. I got tones of phone
calls
too.

connections, you'll be able to contact most recruiters in your field
directly (you'll find that they are most likely your 2nd or 3rd degree
contacts and you are able to send messages to them). Don't be afraid to make
connections with recruiters. For them, the more candidates, the better.
They invest heavily in building up their candidate portfolio.
It is also helpful to follow companies you are interested in joining. Their
new job postings will show on your wall (as well as some news, but that is
probably not your focus for now).
When searching for job listings for a specific company at the company page,
now it shows who in your connections can refer you to the job poster.
我这次找工作的经历，西岸的IT大公司大都用LinkedIn(包括EE和CS)做连续的
recruiting. 东岸的一些financial firm还在用Monster或者Dice。那些一般就是你
upload新resume的第二天，会给你打电话，之后他们似乎就不怎么keep track了。

如果update profile， 第二天一般能收到2封 in-mail. 所以我觉得update会有所帮助

不过recruiter 好像不管你有没有在找工作，而是看你的关键字什么的，很多开头都是

connection最多了。
