High Frequency Connectivity Developer
The Quantitative Prime Services team is part of the Equities Technology
organization at Barclays Capital.
This team is responsible for the development and maintenance of a low
latency trading platform that
caters to clients engaged in high-frequency DMA trading for Equities,
Options and Futures products
globally.
Main Function
This role will be part of the High Frequency Connectivity development team
with specific focus on
Quantitative Prime Services (QPS). The High Frequency Connectivity
development team is part of an
ongoing process to design and implement the next-generation trading
platforms that provide sophisticated
clients with a low-latency pathway to markets globally. Continuous focus is
applied to performance
and capacity tuning. There is an ongoing effort to expand the high frequency
market coverage across
various asset classes. Other significant projects directed toward QPS in
this role include exchange co-
location initiatives, and support for sponsored access or clearing only
trading models. This role requires a
good mix of innovation on the next generation platform as well as an ability
to work closely with the QPS
business on product delivery.
Main Duties
Primary responsibilities for the role:
• Implementation of features, bug fixes and enhancements within the
low latency trading system and the
supporting components
• Work closely with the QPS business to gather requirements, design
and implement new functionality
and features as requested by clients of the system.
• Contribute in optimizing the performance, capacity, monitoring and
maintenance model of the current
platform.
• Participate in the ongoing innovation and design of the next
generation platform.
• Collaborate with teams in Europe and Asia to maintain a global
offering consistent with regional
business requirements and standards.
• Work closely with other Connectivity teams to promote common

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors Degree
• 5+ years of professional Core Java development experience. C++
candidates with some Java
experience also considered.
Preferred Qualifications
• Knowledge of messaging and middleware frameworks a big plus.
• Professional experience working on a Unix/Linux.
• Experience with C, perl, embedded programming a good plus
• Prior experience in with high-frequency, low-latency systems
required.

The Role
WEB products group is looking for talented WEB developers to join a fast
moving team to
help develop standards based and high performance common service framework.
You will be
a key participant and contributor in taking the best practices of WEB
technologies and putting
in place a platform to support a flexible and quick to market architecture
for current and future
WEB products. You should be well-versed in all aspects of web development (
client and server
side) with a passion for building library level quality and reusable
components. You should also
demonstrate a history of on-time delivery, excellent communication, and a
positive "get-it-done"
attitude.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in building large scale public
facing web products
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages including Java, Ruby/PERL/
Python
- Solid experience with a variety of databases (Oracle, Mysql, Mongodb etc)
- Experience architecting and working on at least one large-scale public
production web system
