Job Description
Design and develop networking features for Blue Coat's Security and Wan
Optimization product lines.
Work closely with developers, architects, and product managers to scope the
problem, investigate, and design a solution that meets product requirements.
Be responsible for all aspects of software development including design,
coding, testing and debugging.
Provide assistance and consultation services to internal Quality Assurance,
Customer Support, Documentation and Field System Engineering organizations
on testing and customer deployment issues, as required.
Resolve field issues in a timely manner.
Required Skills
Strong C/C++ programming and debugging skills
Experience with network protocol stack development
Experience with socket level programming
Strong fundamentals in networking protocols such as IP,ARP, ICMP, DNS, TCP/
UDP, etc.
Familiar with routers, switches, proxies, and firewalls.
Ability to analyze packet captures/traces
Good communication skills

Job Description
As a member of the engineering staff of the corporate R&D department, the
qualified engineer will design, implement, and maintain web application
proxy engines and associated functionalities for the ProxySG product. The
engineer is expected to provide key value for Blue Coat's strategic and
tactical product initiatives, contributing to both new product development
and sustaining engineering activities. The qualified engineer will have the
highest level of engineering proficiency, a goal-driven attitude, strong
belief in the potential of Blue Coat's target market and products, and
excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
Contribute to design and development of new features and feature
enhancements for the web application proxy engines and associated
functionalities.
Work closely with senior developers, architects, and product managers to
scope the problem, investigate, and design a solution that meets product
requirements.
Be responsible for all aspects of software development including design,
coding, testing and debugging.
Provide assistance and consultation services to internal Quality Assurance,
Customer Support, Documentation and Field System Engineering organizations
on testing and customer deployment issues, as required.
Adhere to Blue Coat's software engineering processes - meeting project
scheduling requirements, reviewing feature requirements, writing functional
specifications, reviewing test plans, etc. - as required.
Required Skills
Thorough understanding of Internet protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
C/C++ programming and debugging in a Linux environment.
Experience in TCP/IP socket programming, multi-threading, embedded systems.
Experience implementing application-layer protocols such as HTTP in a server
/proxy environment, HTTP web caching, web application firewalls.
Experience with Sharepoint, Office365 etc. highly desirable.
