Engineer I Tech Applications - T/S-1300100
Description
Provide leadership in the specification, design and implementation of Power
System Applications. Perform advanced engineering tasks associated with
projects and support of the Power System Applications (i.e. Contingency
Analysis, Power Flow, State Estimator, Automatic Generation Control, VSAT).
Initiate, design, review, and implement technical changes that improve the
reliability of the power system.
Perform engineering tasks of multiple complexities associated with projects
and support of the SCC. Initiate, design, review and implement technical
changes that improve the SCC's reliability & availability. Perform and
review studies to determine costs, benefits and impact of proposed system
changes.
Perform feasibility and functional impact studies and integration of
proposed system changes. Investigate, develop and implement solutions to
problems which impact SCC's reliability.
Strong communication skills required to interact with various groups in the
Transmission/Substation and Distribution Business Units to obtain their
needs and understand their problems with SCC applications and or systems.
May establish procedures and guidelines that enhance and outline process
improvements to applications and systems (e.g., SCC database load process,
SCC application audit process, etc).
Demonstrated power system knowledge and computer system programming
Familiarity with NERC, FERC, and regional requirements, policies and
procedures. Work experience with systems provided by major EMS/DMS vendors.
Qualifications
Bachelors in Engineering with minimum of 3 years experience in Power
System Control Center.
Must be proficient in computer systems application programming, design and
testing.
Preferred development platforms include C++, Java, Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle
Database, FORTRAN and Visual Basic. Power System Applications experience is
required.
Experience with Alstom Grid EMS is highly desirable.
A Masters in Engineering, PE and EIT licenses is preferred.
Understanding of Six Sigma concepts would also be a plus.
