Title: Senior Staff Chemist
Reports To: Mfg Group Leader
Location: San Francisco, CA (UCSF Mission Bay Area)
Innova Dynamics is a rapidly-growing, venture capital-backed nanotechnology
company serving the display and touch screen industry. The University of
Pennsylvania spin-off is based on a far reaching Innlay™ materials
platform that can transform the performance of numerous devices by embedding
nanoparticles into the surfaces of polymers. Our current focus is on
unleashing the full-potential of touch screens by dramatically reducing
their manufacturing costs while enabling sensors of any size or shape. Other
future markets encompass solar modules, smart windows, medical devices that
are inherently bacteria-free, and numerous other enormous, application
spaces. We are now actively working with the top companies in touch screens,
consumer electronics and the chemical industry to bring our first touch
products to market over the next 1-2 years. A team of highly successful,

We are seeking to hire a Senior Staff Chemist with a passion for process
and product development in leading-edge industries in the fields of
nanomaterials synthesis. The primary role is to synthesize and purify high-
performance nano-particles for ink products used to produce transparent
conductive films in touch screens and other devices. You will support
chemical manufacturing activities in solution-based synthesis to produce
high quality nanomaterials.
Responsibilities:
We will rely on this individual to support manufacturing of nanoparticles,
including but not limited to:
· Lead and conduct synthesis activities using wet bench chemistry
and solution based techniques to synthesize colloidal nanomaterial
· Purify as-synthesized crude nanomaterial product for incorporation
into Innova Dynamic materials
· Manage raw material supply
· Manage hazardous waste disposal within state and federal
regulations
· Manage scheduling of batch processes and work distribution of
technicians
· Must be observant to identify and rectify in-process problems and
suggest process improvements
· Must work alongside R&D in efforts to increase yields, purity and
quality
· Support continuous improvement initiatives as required
· Communicate effectively with other groups to ensure a stable
supply of nanowires to downstream processes
· Support shipping of product to customers
· Work in an efficient and reproducible manner to maximize product
reliability
· Oversee maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments such
as titrators, centrifuge, agitators, chemical balance scales, UV-Vis
spectrophotometer, and other equipment
· Test samples of manufactured products to verify conformity to
specifications
· Record test results on standardized forms and write test reports
describing procedures used
Qualifications:
· BS in Chemistry with 2-3 years experience OR Associates Degree
with 5+ years experience (detail below)
· Experience in hands-on chemistry laboratory procedures, knowledge
of safe laboratory practices and handling hazardous waste
· Experience in a chemical mfg environment and with synthesis &
handling of nanomaterials is preferred
· Must be able to prioritize different tasks and complete tasks in a
timely fashion
· Must have good organizational and communication skills: able to
record data, label samples and record observations meticulously and clearly
· Must be competent with Microsoft Excel and Word
· Must be able to work both independently and as a team member in a
multidisciplinary environment
· May require occasional work on the weekend
· Able to lift up to 30 lbs
