The Mid America Heart Institute at Saint Luke’s Hospital is seeking a PhD
biostatistician to join its nationally recognized cardiovascular research
program. This non-academic position will:
• Provide statistical support for research & publication activities
across various studies & registries
• Actively collaborate with researchers and study teams on new
studies, including design, planning, study operations, data validation and
preparation, analysis and presentation of results
• Research, implement and/or develop appropriate tools for managing
and analyzing data
• Actively review and implement contemporary statistical methods as
appropriate
• Organize, present and interpret findings, including assumptions
and scope of inference
• Assist with writing and critical review of grant proposals,
manuscripts abstracts and presentations
• Assist with didactic training opportunities in advanced methods
for clinical researchers
Qualifications for this position include:
• PhD in biostatistics or statistics
• Experience with clinical/outcomes/health services data desirable
• Solid theoretical understanding and experience with relevant
statistical methods including hierarchical/multilevel models, propensity
scores, multiple imputation, etc.
• Ability to independently determine appropriate methods, including
identification of new methods and implementation or development of new
algorithms/code/etc. as needed
• Substantial experience with SAS (including macro creation) and R/
S-Plus
• Experience querying, merging and summarizing multiple complex
data sources (e.g. using SQL)
• Demonstrated excellent logical thinking skills and attention to
detail
• Demonstrated ability to program efficiently and generically
• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate statistical
concepts to non-statisticians
