Goodman is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Sr.
Software Developer role with a strong LAMP and OSS background, who can
help guide and support the continued development and expansion of
Goodman’s DigiSmart™ suite of software and services. The role will
provide an opportunity to build a scalable, robust data warehousing
and controls platform based on open source components and Amazon’s
cloud technologies and services. Along with experience in application,
server, and web development, the candidate should have a solid
background in LAMP system administration and performance tuning,
including Apache nginx, lighttpd, etc. Our software currently

Postgresql, Python, Django, Java, Javascript, AJAX, jQuery, Amazon EC2

Responsibilities:
Guide and participate in the development of our dynamic web portal and
data collection infrastructure, giving our customers a single point of
access and a powerful set of tools for remotely monitoring and
managing their network of Goodman equipment
Design and implement software components running on LAMP server
stacks, relational databases, NOSQL data-stores, cloud computing
instances, and surrounding technologies
Administer and performance tune server components, including Linux,
XFS, Apache, and Postgresql
Debug system and software problems along with extending the feature
set of existing products
Work with external third parties and vendors in joint development efforts
Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and key Vendors, to
manage, guide, and support the project's objectives
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science required
Must have at least 3-4 years’ experience developing software in one of
the following dynamic languages: Python, Ruby, or Groovy
Must have database programming experience: SQL stored procedures,
functions, indexing, etc.
Must have experience with fundamentals of Linux system administration
Experience installing, configuring, and performance tuning an open
source relational database (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and an open source
web server (Apache, nginx, lighttpd, etc.)
Strong familiarity with the underlying concepts of Data Structures and
Algorithms
Must be a self-motivated, team player who can function with minimal
direction, has an intense desire and ability to learn, and a strong
work ethic
Ability to manage complexity well. Can coordinate information and
activities among groups with differing agendas, across
multi-functional areas.
Ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely in a variety of settings
Strong problem solving skills, a desire to learn, and a passion to
drive advances in and through software technology
Valuable Experience:
C++ or Java development
Javascript development (using the jQuery library)
NoSQL experience (Hadoop, MongoDB, CouchDB, Amazon SimpleDB, Amazon
DynamoDB, etc.)
Linux kernel programming experience
Revision control experience (Subversion, Git, etc.)
Experience with Amazon AWS and EC2
