Drilling Dynamics Modeling Engineer (NAM)
Location: North America – Various, most likely in Houston, TX
Job Summary:
The Drilling Dynamics Modeling Engineer investigates, plans, designs and
evaluates services to its clients to provide flawless Service Quality and
ensure compliance with all company Standards.
Work within the North America Drilling Dynamics Modeling team to provide
Drilling Dynamics Analysis (analyzing drill string design, providing
parameter roadmaps, identifying root cause for vibrations and/or failure
analysis, etc.) in support of global business requirements. Job
responsibilities will include running the proprietary drilling analysis
software per scope of work, analyzing the output from the analysis,
providing conclusions and recommendations, and, preparing and delivering
presentations for internal and external customers.
Relationships:
Reports to NAM Drilling Dynamics Modeling Manager
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
• Analyzes, benchmarks and evaluates the Bit/BHA shock and
vibration performance utilizing the proprietary software and modifies the
BHA accordingly.
• Investigates unusual or unsatisfactory product performance to
determine root cause and recommends preventative action.
• Presents the findings and recommendations to the project
initiator.
• May be a member of a the engineering/technical team in the area
overseeing multiple products or districts.
• Provides technical support to the field sales organization and to
clients.
• Mentors and coaches less experienced people at location.
• Complies with all Company & Regulatory HS&E & Quality and IT
standards and policies. Wears all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as
required & maintains required HS&E & SQ certifications up-to-date.
Previous Experience and Competencies:
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor/Master/Ph.D. of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or
Petroleum Engineering degree preferred) or related Science
• Good understanding and hands on experience on solid mechanics/
finite element
• 2+ years field experience on L/MWD tools and directional drilling
strongly preferred
• Drilling dynamics modeling experience a plus
