Job Title: Bioinformatics Scientist
Position Location: South San Francisco
Job Description:
The Life Science Solutions Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific is in
need of an experienced, productive and enthusiastic bioinformatics intern/
contractor. The position will be part of a dedicated team of scientists and
engineers working on the cutting edge Next Generation Sequencing technology.
This intern position is based in our South San Francisco office.
Qualifications:
Can-do attitude, excited about working in a fast paced environment,
must be a self starter
Solid knowledge of next gen sequencing, solid experience in common
bioinformatics tools
2+ years of experience in C++ programming, or 2+ years of
experience in Java programming
2+ years of experience working on bioinformatics projects
Solid understanding of mathematical concepts, excellent knowledge
of algorithm development and data analysis
Solid experience with Unix/Linux
Understanding of software testing principles, tool sets,
understanding of data analysis principles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of Perl / Python
Understand SW development processes/life cycle and SW Architecture
Knowledge of web development/architecture
