A boutique asset management firm in PA. We are seeking a well-rounded
software developer to join our development team. This developer will help
maintain and expand our proprietary automated data-driven trading systems.
As a key member of a small development team, you will be an integral part of
all aspects of our mission-critical trading infrastructure. In addition to
working with existing systems, you will be assisting with making and
implementing design decisions for new and improved data and software
architecture. The position is full-time in our PA office.
Technology is at the heart of our business. At the firm, you and the rest of
the technology team will work directly with traders, quants, and portfolio
managers to solve interesting and challenging problems using technology.
Your actions will directly impact the success of our business.
The company will not consider applicants who require H1-B Visa sponsorship
for this position.
Key responsibilities
Work with the rest of the development team to expand and maintain the firm’
s proprietary software systems
Work directly with the trading desk, analysis team, portfolio managers, and
other business groups to support existing systems and implement new ideas
Onboard new, diverse, large datasets and create appropriate ETL processes
About the IT Team
We are a small team of developers and operations admins who work together to
develop, maintain, and expand our in-house trading software. In addition to
our code, we integrate and assist with development of code from other teams
, including the traders and analysts. We work directly with traders and
analysts daily, and most of the team on a regular basis.
We’re primarily a Windows shop, but use Linux where it fits best. The bulk
of our software is written in Java, but we also have a ton of Perl and
MATLAB, and some Python and C#. We use Microsoft SQL Server for relational
data storage.
Desired Skills and Experience
2+ years of experience developing software in a team environment and a
detailed understanding of Java and object-oriented software design
Experience with modern team development tools and methodologies, including
distributed version control systems, automated testing, and continuous
integration
Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills and the ability to
effectively communicate and share your ideas
Ability and desire to quickly get up to speed on new technologies and
systems
Strong knowledge of relational databases – knowledge of other database
paradigms a plus
Fluent in one or more scripting languages, and ability to read and
troubleshoot others (e.g. Perl, Python)
Familiarity with Windows, Microsoft SQL Server, and Apache Tomcat
Familiarity with web interfaces – GWT knowledge is a plus
Experience with MATLAB is a plus | f********s
