Had lunch with Mahesh Gupta yesterday at the Bangalore office. We got
talking about college placements. And he mentioned that he got his first job
with a major IT firm where the only question they asked was "what do your
parents do?" That's it! He ended up not going there, and instead got a
masters degree at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, after which he
joined LinkedIn (where we asked him more than one question!) This is just
one of many stories I've encountered about the placements process in India.
Still learning, but starting to realize just how unique this market is | o**********e
