Responsibilities：
Collaborate with JDM customer engineering and internal PD team
members to design, build, and test mechanical packaging features on portable
consumer devices.
Investigate and develop mechanical design concepts to achieve
product performance requirements.
Define, build, and characterize physical prototypes on assigned
mechanical packages/components.
Perform tolerance analysis on parts designs to ensure requirements
for assembly, functionality, and cosmetics can be met.
Create design documentation including specifications and drawings
required for manufacturing assigned part/assemblies.
Conduct mechanical performance evaluation on components, subsystems
, and full assemblies as well as perform thorough analysis of results.
Work directly with part tooling and manufacturing to optimize part
and assembly design for manufacturability, cost, and quality.
Clearly communicate results through informal peer reviews as well
as presenting at formal design reviews.
Work closely with manufacturing to define, specify, and validate
test equipment / processes related to assigned part and/or assembly designs.
Support prototype and production part and assembly builds, both
remotely and onsite at factory.
Collaborate with JDM partners to develop and validate manufacturing
assembly procedures to meet product performance requirements.
Troubleshoot mechanical failures and recommend design changes to
prevent future occurrences.
Travel both internationally and domestically, as required.
Requirements：
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
Engineering field required.
Knowledge of mechanical packaging structures for mobile phone,
smart speaker, and/or other portable electronics.
5+ years of part design experience including housings, lenses, die
cuts, displays, contacts, and other miscellaneous mechanical package
components.
Understanding of manufacturing processes used to produce plastic,
rubber, metal, & glass and/or cermanic components.
Proficient skill with 2D & 3D CAD modelling; Experience with NX/
Unigraphics desirable.
Experience with running tolerance analysis, including WC, RSS, and
DRSS methods.
Strong writing and oral communication skills with both English and
Chinese languages |
