layers 2 and 3 in the protocol stack for wireless networks such as IEEE 804.
15.4x and ZigBee. Specifically, experience with routing algorithms in short
range multi-hop wireless mesh networks is essential for a productive
internship at Mitsubishi Electric Research Lab (MERL). Many routing
algorithms for wireless sensor (and ad hoc) networks have already been
reported in literature. These algorithms are well suited for their specific
deployment scenarios. Successful candidate will work on new routing
algorithms for specific target networks. Candidate must have a solid
experience of working with network simulators such as NS2 and Opnet. Some
knowledge of smart grid will be a bonus.
Ability to conduct research and devise new routing algorithms satisfying
specific needs of the target application while optimizing desired
performance metrics is the essence of the work that the successful candidate
will be engaged in during his/her stay at MERL. This internship has an
initial duration of three months that can be extended later depending on the
performance of the intern. The candidate should be a PhD student with good
record of productive research, highly motivated, self driven, and having an
ability to offer good initiatives.
This internship will start in early January 2011. MERL is located in
Cambridge, MA.
