The position is centralized in Philips’s Shanghai lab and surrounding
environs. The successful applicant will play an important role in the
clinical proof sourcing of new technology for Philips ultrasound systems.
With unique users and use cases, the evolving market for ultrasound in China
drives demand for intelligent features and innovations that suit the
government-driven modernization of healthcare delivery. We seek candidates

The right candidate will have a unique opportunity to work with key opinion
leaders in regional and China-wide ultrasound application and proof sourcing
studies to gather and publish evidence, while simultaneously driving inputs
to new technology development initiatives to suit the needs of the local
market. The post will suit an experienced scientist or engineer with a
subset of proven domain expertise in the clinical applications of ultrasound
, and demonstrated knowledge of ultrasound signal and imaging processing.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:
• Design, execute, and analyze short to long term clinical trials
of new Philips ultrasound devices and technologies in China.
• Support all ongoing ultrasound research projects in China by
knowing and living the applicable clinical work flow to perform quick,
nimble primary market research studies in both premiere and rural hospitals
across China.
• As an innovation leader, assist researchers in the netting and
prioritization of clinical requirements to create foundations for next
generation technologies.
• Create patent applications and submit publications to high impact
journals.
Qualifications:
• MD or PhD Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and
Electronic Engineering, Physics, or other related disciplines.
• Demonstrated knowledgeable on:
o A wide range of clinical applications of ultrasound in screening,
diagnosis, and image guidance is required, with prior published research in
surgical guidance, anesthesia, critical care, and/or emergency medicine
highly preferred. Sample publications are welcomed.
o High level understanding of human physiology and anatomy.
o Programming and simulation languages such as MATLAB, C, C++, as well as
statistical analysis software.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in laboratory or clinical
ultrasound research for a commercial ultrasound organization or academic
facility is required.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with sonographers,
radiologists, and/or other medical specialists is preferred.
• Candidates that are self-motivated and require minimal
supervision; possess excellent organizational, change management, and
communication skills will move to the front of the line for consideration.
• Fluency in oral and written Mandarin Chinese and English is
required.
