The Department of Biostatistics and Research Decision Sciences (BARDS) is a
key functional group in the Merck Research Laboratories (MRL), Merck & Co,
Inc. BARDS is establishing an office in China, which will serve as the Asia
Pacific regional hub for BARDS global operations.
BARDS is recruiting for Senior Biometrician/Biometrician/Statistician (
contracting or permanent) positions in its Asia Pacific late development
statistics (BARDS LDS AP) group located in Beijing.
Epidemiologist
1.Performs literature review in responses to requests from MSD China and
Epidemiology Department located in MSD headquarters.
2.Independently performs data queries and summarizes epidemiological
information using data from national sources to address questions by senior
members of Epidemiology or by other departments.
3.Designs and coordinates all aspects of epidemiological research programs.
4.Participates in cross-functional teams. Proactively works with other
groups to identify epidemiological research needs and works interactively to
address such needs.
5.Prepares reports to communicate epidemiological study results to Merck
management, internal committees, external investigators, and regulatory
agencies.
6.Serves as a liaison with key opinion leaders and academic institutions.
Requirements
•PHD degree in Epidemiology or closely related discipline, or a Master
degree in Epidemiology, or a closely related discipline, with equivalent
experience (ability to conduct independent analysis of existing datasets,
together with at least three years of research experience).
•Understanding of fundamental principles of biostatistics,
epidemiology, human biology, and basic medical sciences.
•Knowledge of health care systems and medical literature databases in
China.
•Good project management skills. Ability to engage key stakeholders in
BARDS, clinical, regulatory, and health outcomes groups locally and
internationally.
•Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
.
•Excellent language skills in both English and Chinese
