Neuralstem, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Germantown,
Maryland, is seeking
qualified candidates for the position of Manufacturing Associate. The
company focuses on the
development and commercialization of stem cell-based treatments for central
nervous system disease.
Human neural stem cell products in development include NSI-566 which is
currently in clinical trials for
the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s
disease), chronic spinal cord injury,
and motor deficits due to ischemic stroke. The company is also testing a
small molecule pharmaceutical
compound, NSI-189, in clinical trials for the treatment of major depressive
disorder.
Manufacturing Associate
The successful candidate will have responsibility for growing and preparing
stem cells for use in our
expanding portfolio of clinical trials. Primary duties will be performed in
a cGMP setting, so preferential
consideration will be given to candidates with industry experience in cGMP
cell manufacturing.
Primary Responsibilities
• Processing human neural stem cells under cGMP conditions for use in
clinical trials
• Expansion and banking of human neural stem cells under cGMP
conditions
• Maintenance of cGMP facilities
• Processing samples for testing
• Characterization of stem cell cultures to evaluate proliferative/
differentiative properties
• Review/editing of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and
manufacturing batch records
Requirements:
• BS or MS in cell biology or related discipline and 3+ years’
experience in a relevant field,
preferably in industry
• Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture with experience in
biologics cGMP
• Experience with immunocytochemistry, ELISA, fluorescence microscopy
a plus
• Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Independently motivated, possessing attention to detail and good
problem solving ability
• Understanding of stem cell biology and cell therapy a plus
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
