A postdoctoral research scholar position is immediately available in the
Department of OB&GYN. The research interests in the lab include identifying
and characterizing novel post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms that
control drug resistant at cancer cells. The postdoctoral position will
include opportunities to study RNA-binding proteins using state-of-the-art
approaches (e.g. HITS-CLIP) to study RNA-protein interactions. Genetic mouse
models, cellular and in vivo metabolic analysis, cell culture, cell imaging
, in vivo manipulation of gene expression with viral vectors, human tissues
samples immunostaining and biochemistry assays will be used in the project.
The group is interested in understanding the cellular and molecular basis of
drug resistance, synthetic lethality in cancer cells, with the goal of
identifying novel therapeutic interventions to improve treatments to women’
s cancer. The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is a highly
ranked biomedical research institute.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Solid knowledge in Cell biology and Biochemistry;
• Extensive experience working with mammalian cell lines and
primary cells;
• Extensive experience with sub-clone, viral construction, as well
as overexpression/suppression of target gene expression;
• Experience with flow cytometry, microscopy and EM;
• Profound experience in animal handling, mouse surgeries, tissue
dissection.
