Sharp-eyed traders noticed the pronunciation of the numbers in Thursday’s
rate — 6.3737 (liudian sanqisanqi) yuan to the U.S. dollar – sounds in
Chinese like 有点生气生气 (youdian shengqishengqi), or “a little bit angry.”
Let’s hope tomorrow’s parity isn’t 6.7474, which in Chinese sounds like
“go die, go die!” |
