德州休斯顿地区当地时间21日下午,有四家银行在四小时内相继遭歹徒持枪抢劫得手。
其中有两家Wells Fargo, 一家Chase, 一家BBVA Compass银行,所幸没有发生人员伤亡。
(KPRC) - Houston Police officers along with the FBI searched for five bank
robbery suspects Saturday after detectives said four banks were robbed in
the span of four hours on Saturday afternoon.
"The first robbery took place around 11:05 a.m. at the Wells Fargo on 10005
Beechnut," said FBI spokeswoman Shauna Dunlap."One suspect came in and
passed a threatening note to the teller."
Two men used weapons to threaten the employees and customers inside the
Wells Fargo at 2005 Taylor, which was robbed at 11:30 in the afternoon.
"One of the men stands guard over all of the customers and employees on the
floor while the other subject armed as well jumps the counter and takes the
cash,." said Dunlap.
The two thieves were wearing masks and dark colored clothing.
At the same time 8 miles away, a man stormed into the Compass Bank at 1217 W
. 43rd with a gun and pointed his weapon at the teller demanding cash,
investigators said. According to officers he fired one shot before running
out of the bank.
"He already had the money. There was no reason for him to fire that weapon,"
said Dunlap.
Witnesses told police the suspect left in a white truck with the word "ACE"
on the side.
The fourth robbery took place near the Galleria at the Chase Bank off San
Felipe and Post Oak Lane around 2:30 p.m. One suspect went in wearing dark
sunglasses and a white baseball cap. He passed the teller a threatening note
as well. As he was running away the dye pack exploded in the parking lot,
but the thief was able to get away on foot before police arrived.
"I can't believe that," said Neal Manne who has lived in the area for 25
years. "I've never heard of anything like that. In broad daylight, on a
Saturday, right near the Galleria. That's a bold robber."
In all four cases the suspects got away with cash. Investigators said bank
robberies have more than doubled this year, compared to last year in 2011.
"We've responded to 48 bank robberies to date compared to about half that
amount last year at this same time," said Dunlap.
According to investigators, about 70 to 75 percent of bank robbery cases are
typically solved.
