Roberts is the most intellectually qualified nominee and has done a great job
in
the public hearing. With all the republicans backing him, he will sure be
confirmed. A lot of the democrats have already exclude the possiblility of
fillibuster, which is the only way that they can block his confirmation.

JR is a smart, savvy lawyer with a relatively small paper trail. And he
seems to have the political skills required for him to be an effective
chief. If Dems want to pick a fight, they wouldn't pick this one, but the
nomination to replace swing-voting O'Connor.

look how he plucked Judge Roberts from obscurity--I gather Democrats will be
denied that opportunities again. (On the other hand, Judge Roberts may not be
conservative after all.)
