有的人都觉得不可思议。
jaywalk肯定是illegal的，但是也不至于关监狱吧。而且是临晨，路上都没有人。我感
觉jaywalking就像speeding，大多数人都干过，一般就是ticket呗。
我想请教的是有没有可能告警察滥用权利。谢谢大家。 |

Also, I am asking whether there is a chance to sue the cop assuming
everything I said is true.

getting jailed. if you consult wiki entry about jaywalking - it seems some
states treat this more seriously than others and short jail time can be
imposed. but I guess your friend might have some altercation (or just a bad
"attitude") with the police when the police accosted him. that could the
real reason for him to be jailed.
anyway, if you really want to get help, you should find a lawyer - check
your school, community, or |

. I'm just not willing do legal research, which costs me money. Legal
advice is an expensive commodity. If you want to get some for free, you
better lose that attitude. (Now I have a better idea why you friend got
jailed for jaywalking. You know what they say, birds of a feather flock
together).

Either lz kept some detail away from us or lz's friend kept something.

发帖数: 282 | 8 I know it's hard to believe. There was another kid with him when he was
arrested, who told us the same story. The poor kid bahaved very politely. He
didn't do anything to make the thing worse.
We are in a small southern town. And I never heard anyone being arrested
because of jaywalking.

说的, DA估计都不会起诉, 同样菜鸟警察应该也不会干这种事情吧.

发帖数: 282 | 11 我们也觉得很夸张，以为最多也就是给ticket呗。
现在给安排到8月上庭了。人倒霉喝凉水都塞牙。天知道那天那警察怎么发飙了。
更夸张的是他们把那小孩的名字还拼错了，系里小秘打了10几个电话都说没有这个人。
结果后来人都放了才搞明白找的是谁。
