If the green card is a big deal for getting jobs after JD, then I might have
to give up law school. |

发帖数: 50 | 6 You can call international offices of your target universities to find out.
None of the universities I contacted give 2nd OPT since I have used OPT for
PhD, some universities do not even give CPT because their law schools give
no credits for internship.
As I was told, no OPT=only volunteer job during summer=no intern in law firm
=less chance to locate firm job after graduation.
With GC, the situation is much better for sure.

because there are LLM and SJD above that; so no 2nd OPT for advanced degree
holders. But I also heard about ppl with PhD getting 2nd OPT, since his univ
. considered JD as professional degree, a different category. I guess it is
a grey zone.

know that most MBA programs have both CPT and OPT, even though they do not
give credit for intern. But I don't see why law school won't allow CPT.
Since it is easy to show that intern is part of the requirement to get your
degree. School should encourage students to take internship. Maybe
everything is just a matter of luck? |

If you never used OPT/CPT even if you have PHD, no problem.
If 1) you have PHD and 2) you have used up your OPT after PHD, you cannot
get OPT after graduating with JD. However, you may still get CPT for
internship, by finding some inexperienced counseler in your international
office and convincing them. The law school will register for you a 0-credit
course. If you land a job before graduation and you file H1b on April 1
before graduatat |

There's LL.M. above J.D., and with no doubt LL.M. is a master's degree.
