话据了。难道主要是因为writing example太糟糕吗?我给他们的是PhD thesis的
introduction part，后来想也许discussion更合适？有没有了解的老大能告诉我对
writing example的要求是什么，得达到什么标准啊。谢谢。
只能接着寄简历了。 |

发帖数: 406 | 3 谢谢回答。我听说没有发表过的会更好一点，因为发表了的文章会经过编辑等等的修改。
我担心的是在introduction里面都是在总结之前别人做过的东西，律所的人会不会去查
database之后发现好多话都是从各个文章里面拼凑起来的。如果是这样的话以后就送
discussion作为sample了。当然也有可能我写得太糟糕，送哪一个部分都一样。
我的thesis还是被committee accepted without revision的呢。不过老板基本上没有
怎么看，只看了一两页吧。两个inside committee member估计更是翻都没有翻过。
outside committee member 估计看了，但是大概惧于其他三个的淫威......

The balance between protein synthesis and degradation is important for
normal function and survival of cells. While the ubiquitin-proteasome
pathway is responsible for specific clearance of short-lived proteins, long-
lived proteins are delivered to lysosomes by autophagy, which is the major
inducible pathway for general turnover of bulk cytoplasmic components
including entire organelles such as mitochondria (Klionsky and Emr, 2000;
Levine and Klionsky, 2004; Levine and Kroemer, 2008). There are three types
of autophagy: macroautophagy, microautophagy, and chaperone-mediated
autophagy. In microautophagy, cytosolic components are directly engulfed by
lysosomal limiting membrane at lysosome surface (Uttenweiler and Mayer, 2008
), while in chaperone-mediated autophagy, specific cytosolic proteins with
certain motif structures are degraded through interaction between chaperone
complexes that are located in the cytocol and on lysosomal membranes (Massey
et al., 2006). Macroautophagy is the most widely studied type of autophagy
among these three types, and is usually referred to as autophagy. The
initial step of autophagy is the synthesis of de novo single membrane sac
named isolation membrane, which fuses at the edges and thereby enwraps
cytosolic proteins and organelles into a double-membrane structure called
autophagosome. The outer membrane of autophagosomes eventually fuses with
the membrane of lysosomes, releasing the inner membrane and the content for
hydrolytic enzyme mediated degradation in lysosomes. Although the morphology
of autophagy has been widely studied in mammalian cells, the molecular
mechanism was poorly understood, until a screening experiment was performed
in the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. In yeast, autophagy is
induced by nitrogen deprivation. The vacuoles generated in response to
starvation, which are equal to autophagosomes in mammalian cells, can be
easily monitored by light microscopy. From screening for mutant yeast cells
in which autophagic vacuoles do not accumulate under starvation conditions
and as a result bulk protein degradation, sporulation and cell viability are
affected, fifteen autophagy-related (Atg) genes were identified and later a
few more were discovered (Tsukada and Ohsumi, 1993; Klionsky et al., 2003).
Almost all of these Atg genes have orthologs in higher eukaryotic cells
such as mammalian cells, suggesting that the machinery of autophagy is well
conserved.

貌似喜欢用while, ", which". 老实说", which”的用法我一直不是很确定
看上去有些小语法错误。比如Almost all of these Atg genes have orthologs in
higher eukaryotic cells such as mammalian cells, suggesting that the
machinery of autophagy is well
conserved. “suggesting"的主语是“these Atg genes"? 说不通
大致还好，但是感觉有点拖沓。可能是段落太长了？
writing sample自然是尽量完美的好。不过也不是主要因素啦。继续加油

发帖数: 213 | 10 我听说，专利撰写属于techinical writing，是有章法可循的。也就是说所需的写作技
巧是可以被训练出来的。不知道这种事前准备的writing sample有多大的参考价值。我
想也许不是主要因素吧。
BTW，我的面试也挂了。继续投简历吧。 |

一直也没有职位open的广告．之前也只是抱着试一下的心态投了简历．

工作不稳定，即使去了以后，哪天没有项目就把你裁了？
