发帖数: 1214 | 1 I recently got offers from Finnegan, Ropes and Morrison Foerster. All three
offices are in SF. I am a chemist title is technology specialist/patent
agent(if pass patent bar). The salary is similar among these three, not sure
about bonus, seems you have to work a lot to get it.
Any way I don't know too much about law firms,I have a few questions.
1. Which one is more prestigious in patent law field?
2. Which one is better for career development, especially I am thinking
going to law school two years later either part time or full time?
3. Is it easy to pass patent bar? How much time do people usually spend on
it?

发帖数: 3888 | 2 Congratulations. All 3 firms are great. If I were you, I'd probably go with
Finnegan or MoFo. Patent bar should be easy for someone like you. Not sure
about the new exam, though. Heard it just got more difficult. |

发帖数: 298 | 3 Big Congrats. YOu must be a genius to nail offers from all three.
As you may already know, Finnegan is a boutique while Ropes and MoFo are GP
firms. If you want to stay within patent law, it probably does not matter
which one you choose, assuming you go part-time JD. If you want to branch
out, say into corporate law, then you might have an edge by going to GP firm
, also assuming you enroll full-time at Stanford or Berkeley or others like
NYU or Columbia.

edge over the other two choices.

would stay away from a boutique firm. |

one thing I want to chip in is MOFO has more diversified firm culture, more
friendly toward Asians. Finnegan is a boring firm to work for. Don't know
too much about Ropes. |

读JD方面我个人感觉是Finnegan更支持一些, 这个需要你自己和每个所沟通了解, 或者
等ironny来给你介绍
现在主动权在你手里, 你如果有更多问题需要了解, 应该直接和律所负责招聘的人联系
, 让他们安排人来和你推销他们自己, 你甚至可以主动要求和哪个Associate, Student
Associate或Technical Advisor交谈 |

发帖数: 128 | 8 I would vote for MoFo. Strong IP practice and very strong presence in SF.
Great & diversified culture. Billable hour requirement not as high as peer
firms. If you are interested in getting to know business law as well, MoFo's
IP work is substantially related to commercial transactions.
Before, MoFo required 2 years of work before sponsoring you to law school.
Now it abandons this requirement and usually 1 year of work would be
sufficient.

不过楼主是Chem/Bio的，MoFo水平也很高，同时还有好几个中国partners，billable
hour requirement for patent attorney (1800hrs) 好像比你们少200小时，有木有！！

practice firm like MoFo.
Otherwise, either Mofo or Finnegan are great choices. Congrats! |

我咨询过,貌似美东这边只有他们支持day school, 其他律所都prefer 4年的night
school.

就回来干活. night school一般是白天上班晚上上课.
