530 n-series desktop with Ubuntu 8.04 for my work for $1242. And I also plan
to add a 2nd hard drive (maybe 1T) once I get the computer. Any comment
and suggestion. Most of my work is programming to deal with digital data.
The data is huge, always several hundred gigabyte data for a single run.

any additional cost for an Ubuntu machine. And to add insult to injury,
sometimes you would get this ridiculous "for $$ you can UPGRADE to windows
XP" banner. |

候，处理数据，一个分区raid1，备份数据。
如果funding经费充裕，直接加linux支持的hardware raid。 |
