a***e 发帖数: 1140 | 1 I have installed both winxp pro version, and ubuntu 9.10 version.
I also installed vmplayer for ubuntu version.
Now I try to run windows under ubuntu's vmplayer. But I need a vmx file.
How to create it?
The googled result always suggests use easyVMX, which is just create an
empty image and need to install the winxp again.

You need to create XP pro _under_ vmware.
I am not sure whether vmplayer supports creating OS images, though, so if
you have to vmware,
create the image with virtualbox first, then copy it back to vmware.

quite some people are doing it so it's definitely feasible.
