but it took dozen of years to develop the language. And you are expecting Qt
to reach that level within a few years of development? Of course it is

trolltech time doesnot count... Qt was as boring and stale as gtk then. It
only became interesting after nokia bought trolltech.

发帖数: 878 | 13 这个就有点胡扯了。Qt was good and mature long before it was acquired by Nokia. The biggest leap forward was Qt4.0, released around 2004/5ish (Qt3 was OK but nothing outstanding). Nokia bought it for its embed framework (Now Nokia is abandoning it). However Qt has a great desktop framework along with lots of non-gui libs. No other cross-platform
framework came close to it.
One great thing Nokia did was changing the license to LGPL, so it can be used to write close sourced program without having to buy license.
Comparing Qt to Java doesn't really make sense. Qt is a C++ lib, aimed for GUI but actually has lots of great non-gui frameworks, also has lots of binding, include Java and Python. It has improved so much over the years and has become a really great and powerful tool. The latest great thing is called Qt Lighthouse. It makes porting Qt to any platform a lot easier. A guy in his spare time in one year has created a complete Qt IDE for Android (like Xcode for iOS). so you can use C++ to write Android apps. Qt for iPhone is also in the works but that might be a much tougher job.
