I have a very naiive question:
I started to look for the townhouse/condo, and found there are pretty good
ones that are restricted to 55+.
why those townhouse/condo are so cheap? I am wondering if my mom comes here
with GC and can she buy one and we all move in?

of buyer-->meaning when you try to sell, it's more difficult-->this reduces
the potential for investment-->pay close attention to the HOA, usually it's
quite high due the the various amenities for seniors
if your mom plans to live there most of the time, it's definitely a good
option but if you plan on renting it out, you'll find it's not easy and the
return is low. there's a local senior community here and thought about
buying one ($100k) but gave up due to high HOA $500/mo, and limited market
demand due to age restriction.
