in general, price is 1/3 material, 1/3 labor, & 1/3 profit.
but many times you don't know the details of the project and what seems to
be "low" on price could mean "inferior" or "sub-par" workmanship.
contractor can also easily use 30-40% lesser material to low ball on the
price.
personally i would place quality before price--
think home improvement as "investment". you want return (enjoyment). don't
want to write it off in a few yrs i suppose.
