咨询过专业人员经过某些处理，说是里面不会有问题，不肯开洞，说如果我们愿意可以
自己出钱请人开。

When the home was built in 2002 there were two attic access doors on both
sides. The intent was to use it as a storage area and for that purpose there
was wooden floor on both sides of the door. For a number of years we kept
large size suitcases. We would remove them every once in a while before
making international travel.
Over the years we found several issues with the doors. First - it became
extremely difficult to pull out heavy bags through the narrow area. Also -
while pulling the bags we would get insulation on our clothes which became
hazardous. Second- there was a safety issue as both our kids were young and
used the area as a play room. Third - we tried several ways to reduce air
leakage to the bonus room by using variety of sealing material on the door
frame. It would only last a few months before tearing. We also consulted
Sherry Peck for advise.
At that point we found no good reason to keep the doors. Before sealing we
confirmed there was sufficient circulating air flow in the area. The roof
was designed to provide ample aeration from the bottom. There is metal
perforation at the roof edge in horizontal direction to make that happen.
Hence we decided to close them around 2008-09 time frame. The closed access
provided extra wall space, better area management. The insulation also
improved. The last five years or so we have not noticed any issues with
moisture or mill dew/mold. The paint we put on the walls after sealing has
also not seen any swelling. Before sealing we also added extra insulation
material.

1. 找到两根大梁之间，先从底下掏个洞，人能进入attic。
2. 丈量大梁间距。去HD买两段截面1.5x5寸的普通木梁，长度精确为大梁间距（正好卡
在ceiling大梁之间），只能短不能长，否则卡不进去。
3. 进入attic，用总共12个3寸木螺钉把这两段梁钉在大梁之间，形成一个正方形木框
结构。之前算好木框大小，以便购买合适盖板。 HD有标准的2x2尺的dry wall方块，可
直接用。需用直角尺做框。
4. 贴着木框内边锯出方洞，注意各种对齐。木框周围订小钉子固定ceiling。
5. ceiling出口下面4边钉上装饰边，需锯8个45度角，每边需向内推进半寸，托盖板用。
6. 打腻子，刷漆，把盖板放进去就好了。
自己干，半天到一天的工作量。
