central vac is also called built-in vac, it is an integral part of the house.
The main benefits are
- it lasts a long time - average 20 years or longer
- it has very high suction power, 3-5 times higher than portable vacs
- it vents dirty air directly to the outside; portable vacs recycles the air
back to your room
- it is easy to use, all you need to do is to carry a hose around.
- it can be much quieter because you can put your central vac unit in the
garage, far away from where you use it
the metal ring on the hose connector connects the circuit and turns on the
vacuum. when you remove the hose, the circuit disconnects. The wire are
already built into the hose outlets.

个长方形的洞,里面看得到电线,但并没有接口,是不是没有安装而已?

the inlet I have has two metalic contacts, like this
the hose end only has a metallic ring, no cable or anything else.
http://builtinvacuum.com/parts/all/hoses/extension/extension-hose/
but apparently, there are different hoses/inlet designs, some of them
require additional wires/plugs, you can find some of the examples here, and
see which one is your type

I have a different experience. the suction power is important and it feels
incredibly strong for my CV. That makes vacuuming a lot easier, I only run
one fast (very fast) pass of the floor, and it becomes spotless.
the suction power is quantified by several metrics. The most meaningful one
is airwatt. checkout this blog article

and my old post here:

as you can see from the table at the end of the blog article, the more
expensive portable vacuum, Miele Canister C3, consumes 1200W of electricity,
and can only generate 350 airwatt suction power. It also cost over $1000.
in comparison, the low-end central vac can already produce over 500 airwatt;
my 30+ years old Galaxie can generate over 1000 airwatt with only 1000W
power consumption. That is 3x times vacuuming power than the Miele.

generate over 1000 airwatt with only 1000W", This is physically impossible,
since no system is 100% efficient. Central air system has long hoses and
pipes all over the house, there is a lot of energy loss in those pipes and
hoses. At lease the last two systems I used had those energy loss and made
them not superior.

,
you were right. I just looked it up, and my model is Galaxie GA 100, it has
675 airwatt, with a power consumption of 1500W (=2hp). The GA-240 model can
produce 1160 airwatt suction power, but not mine.
https://mycentralvacuum.com/product/ga-240-central-vacuum-power-unit/
it is not normal. properly installed vents should be all airtight (sealed at
all connectors). if you have loss of suction pressure, you either have
leaks along the pipes, or your power unit has a defective motor.
