发帖数: 341 | 1 Hello. I am Richard Hofstetter, Ph.D., the principal investigator of a
major scientific study being conducted at the San Diego State University
Graduate School of Public Health. The purpose of the study is to collect
data concerning health risks and conditions among first generation Koreans/
Chinese residing in the greater Los Angeles area (Los Angeles, Orange, and
San Bernardino counties) to improve social and medical services to first
generation immigrants, a group that is not now well served by existing state
or federal services. We hope to improve the quality of life for Korean/
Chinese people.

I need your help, and that help will involve very little effort and no cost
for your organization. I simply ask that you forward a short request (
document attached to this email) to the members of your organization, asking
them if they would be willing to participate in our research. The members
will be free to volunteer or to decline, and because you have sent the
request to them, no information about the persons will be revealed to my
research team unless the members contact us. Interested persons will be
asked simply to send us a telephone number for us to call so that we can
explain the project and invite them or someone else in their household to
participate by telephone based on random selection procedures.

The study is funded by the U.S. National Institute of Health (grant number 1
RC1 AA018970-01), is being conducted under the auspices of the Center for
Behavioral Epidemiology and Community Health at San Diego State University,
and uses current scientific procedures that have been approved by the San
Diego State University Institutional Review Board (the Committee for the
Protection of Human Subjects). For questions, the San Diego State

The identities and responses of study participants will be held in strictest
confidence following the rules approved by the SDSU IRB. Respondents will
be asked if they wish to receive a $10 incentive payment on completion of
the survey and, if they do, a name and address for mailing checks will be
requested. This information will be kept in strictest confidence and then
destroyed once it is no longer needed for purposes of reimbursement. Names
and addresses of persons who do not wish to receive an incentive payment
will not be collected and will be anonymous after the study is completed.
