爬山去滑雪也可以。 |

I don't need to work 70 hrs wk. |

t**********p 发帖数: 2672 | 5 How many people are on this? I don't know for sure on Thurs, but Friday i
am pretty sure! |
W***n 发帖数: 11530 | 6 My first climb when I am back will be for the honor of Michelle Yu, a great
hiker and athlete!
I am sure she will watch my footsteps... |
p*****o 发帖数: 1285 | 7 LD will have Friday off, so most likely we'll go skiing on Friday. Now it's
just myself. Try to get Thurs. off!

t**********p 发帖数: 2672 | 8 Are we going to attempt to summit? I need to get an ice axe. I think it
might have a high avalanche danger with such heavy rain falls... but I think
there will be many people that day.

p*****o 发帖数: 1285 | 9 yes, we'll attempt summit this time. and yes, you should get ice axe and
crampons. My 4-teeth ones may not be enough given the likely icy condition.
Snow/ice in the bowl was hardly affected by the rain as the snow level was
about 8500ft. Before ski hut we should be able to follow the trail. So,
avy danger is not higher than it usually is.
The snow level will drop to 6800 by tomorrow according to NOAA, and droping.
Snow accumulation may top 100 inches (at 9000 ft) before the sky clears
out on Thursday. |

December, 20th, 2010, 12am:
****Socalweather.net Blizzard Warning for all mountains above 8500 feet
through 3pm Wednesday 12/22****Heavy snow will continue for the back country
and highest areas of Southern California. Winds at times when the jet comes
over head could gust as high as 100mph along the peaks and ridges. This
combined with constant very heavy snow will make for blizzard condtions.
Snow totals near and above the 9000 foot level should be about 7-14 feet by
the time this storm is finally finished with highest totals over by Mt Baldy
(15 feet possible) and lowest near Mt San Jacinto which actually may only
see about 4feet or so when all said and done due to a good rain shadow
during this event. This is one of the largest snow storms in history for the
back country.
****>Avalanche Warning for Mt Baldy and San Gorgonio Mountains peaks above
9000 feet through the weekend.**** Snow depths of over 10 feet on these
mountains peaks Mt Baldy(10,800 feet) and San Gorgonio (11500 feet) will
create extreme avalanche dangers now through the next week or so. All back
country hikers and skiers please be advised of this risk and bring your
avalanche beacons. |
p*****o 发帖数: 1285 | 12 Thanks for the info. So that's the avy danger associated with new snow,
which I apparently underestimated for Mt Baldy. Probably the week after x'
mas is more suitable, given the few sunny days.
