Shootingfreeway Traffic was flowing again Wednesday on the 60 Freeway in
Diamond Bar after a shooting investigation closed lanes in both directions.
The shooting occurred in nearby La Puente shortly before 7:30 a.m. when two
men got in a heated argument at Old Valley Road and Valley Boulevard, said
Sgt. Tom Wilson of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
One of the men pulled out a gun and fired “several rounds” at the other,
Wilson said.
The two men fought over the gun, and the man who initially fired it fled in
a vehicle. He was injured and driving east on the 60 Freeway when he passed
out. His car skidded into the center divider just past Diamond Bar Boulevard
, Wilson said.
An off-duty officer who stopped to help noticed the man was injured and had
a gun.
He was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital, where he was under guard Wednesday
and being treated for three gunshot wounds: On his hand, the side of his
head and in the middle of his face.
The investigation was ongoing. Wilson said the man who shot the gun was 50
years old, and the other was 43 or 44.
